This strategy term project is about Panera Bread Company and its strategy to become more than just â€Å"great food and superior customer service.† Based in St Louis the company is committed to create in its bakery-cafes a warm and welcoming environment. Panera Bread’s strategic leadership together with by top level management has gained and sustained the company’s competitive advantage, and continues to implement the company responsibilities in menu transparency creating food as it should be. The key challenge of PBC is to effectively balance the needs of stakeholders as well as the shareholders and other investors in order to achieve the company’s goals and performance targets. In 1981 founded by Louis Kane and Ron Shaich, Panera Bread began as Au Bon Pain Co., Inc. In fact, in May 1999, all of Au Bon Pain Co., Inc. s units of the business was sold, with the exclusion of Panera Bread, and the company was renamed Panera Bread. Ron Shaich set out to create a different fast food restaurant by how consumers eat. Indeed, by founding not one, but two successful restaurant ideas (Au Bon Pain and Panera Bread), Shaich made a change in the fast food industry by offering a different style of fast food – handmade, artisan food served in the warm and welcoming restaurant even if it’s fast food.
